I can’t believe this year has already flown by! Only seems like a few months ago that I was sitting at Jon and Becca’s wedding reception in Hillsboro, TX. A lot has happened in the past 12 months including Becca’s incredible weight loss journey. To document the survival of their first year of marriage and Becca’s incredible weight loss progress we scheduled reunion photo shoot.
Thanks Jon and Becca for driving around with me in search of funky backgrounds. Congratulations on your first year of marriage!
New things are coming and I can’t wait to share them with you! But before I do I still have a lot of recent shoots to share. It’s been a while since I’ve hung out with a 4 year old by myself and I had forgotten completely how big their imaginations are. K was about to turn 5 (*edit* just turned 5!! *end edit*) and we needed to do some photos for her big birthday bash. Originally we were going to do a tea party but the wind was ridiculous that day so we opted for some inside photos and did a quick run through the field. We spent the afternoon eating lots of cake (sorry Mom!) and talking about how annoying little brothers are. (*Side Note* Her little brothers are the cutest things ever! But from what I hear brothers can test your patience. Especially that of a 5 year old girl! (*End Side Note*)
Her outfit comes from an Etsy shop. As soon as I find out which one I will post it. I am OBSESSED with Etsy and can’t believe I haven’t blogged about it sooner. It is filled with such creative people. Every time I get on there I find something new to buy, but I control myself! If you haven’t checked out Etsy do it now! Be prepared to spend an hour or so looking at stuff. :-) It is a great place to get inspired.
K, I hope you had the best 5th birthday a little girl could dream of and ate lots of icing!
I LOVE tea parties! When I was little we’d have them all the time, dressing up and drinking out of mom’s china. It was a last minute shoot, but Robin was willing to bring little Addy out so I could test this new setup out. Watching her play tea with her babies was a blast!
Thank Robin for bringing Addy out and I hope that we can do it again soon!
This year began with a bang! I’ve been so busy that blogging has just been an after thought. Good thing it wasn’t my resolution to post more often! Who likes to start out the year as a failure?
I took these at the end of 2009 and I’m finally getting around to sharing them with you! Payton Leigh came way earlier than expected. With that came medical problems, but Payton is tough and she is fighting her way through. This was my first newborn to shoot in quite some time and I enjoyed every minute. I’ve recently done some more photographs of her, but you’ll have to wait just a little while longer!
Dear Holiday Cheer,
Where have you gone?
I don’t make it a habit to go out shopping the week of Christmas. Traffic, grumpy people, and the anxiety filled rooms aren’t how I’d choose to spend a day. However, my family always waits to the end to buy stuff. Today I realized that the holiday cheer has been sucked out of most shoppers when a lady made me feel bad for her cutting in front of me. I, in monotone-like syllables (all emotion drained by this point in the afternoon) told her that I was in fact in line only to have an unapologetic response tossed my way. Ok….. I let it go. I may have been tired and lacked pep but I wasn’t angry at the world. I’ve always wondered if I do have super hero abilities and could become completely invisible. Some days I am almost certain I do.
When I got home I was greeted with boxes of holiday products in from the press. None of which are for me, but I felt like it was Christmas morning already!! My first set of coffee table books finally arrived and I couldn’t wait to deliver them. I LOOOOOOVE presents that have memories tied in. If I had a choice I’d make Christmas a Martha Stewart like event and demand presents only be given with sentimentality. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate gift cards as much as the next gal, but I probably won’t remember it next year.
It is driving me crazy that I can’t show you these awesome books, but seeing as they are for presents and the receivers may stumble upon this blog before Friday those images will remain in the vault until then. To tide you over and give you a little holiday cheer, Max graced the cover of the annual christmas dog card this year (only 2 years running… it will be a tradition soon enough!).
